Together, with donors, recipients, employees, partners and volunteers, we are Canada’s lifeline. Our role is to provide lifesaving products and services in transfusion and transplantation for Canadian patients, and to safeguard Canada's systems of life essentials in blood, plasma, stem cells, and organs and tissues.

Responsibilities include:

• Receive, prepare and ship blood products/specimens.
• Perform various duties as a member of the Collection team on mobile clinics, according to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), safety and regulatory standards.
• Maintain Canadian Blood Services’ vehicle fleet.
• Understand and use Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Centre Operating Procedures (COPs) as a source of information and guidance in the performance of all duties.
• Comply with Transport Canada Hours of Service Regulations, National Safety Code and provincial Highways Traffic Acts.

Required Skills

• Minimum 24 months verifiable professional driving experience in the last three years.
• Must possess a Secondary School diploma.
• A valid Class C or B drivers’ license is preferred; Class D and F may be considered.
• Clean drivers abstract within 30 days of application.
• Must be capable of operating motor vehicles of various sizes and have the ability to be certified in defensive driving, transportation of dangerous goods, and first aid.
• At least one continuous year of professional experience driving large vehicles is required.
• Experience working in a regulated environment is an asset.
• Strong communication skills in English, and a demonstrated use of good judgement is required.
• Must have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, and have the ability to work in a team setting.
• The physical ability to load, unload and carry heavy clinic equipment and supplies up and down ramps is required.
• Must be available to work variable shifts – days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and some holidays.
